Just Like My Dad

I got this video last night of Remi Roo eating peas.

It's probably the texture that she's not a fan of yet, but right now...she's just like her dad! There's a rumor that my sweet husband was once kicked out of daycare because he wouldn't eat his peas. To this day, he picks out the peas in anything. It's the one thing in this world that he really despises.

Remi's First Visit to...St. Clawdale Park

You may be wondering..."where is St. Clawdale Park?" Well, it's not a place, but a city of campers built around one focal point...a campfire!! St. Clawdale Park is our annual Labor Day camping trip to wrap up summertime fun. Each year we travel to River Country Campground in Evart, Mich., 3.5 hours north of where we live in metro-Detroit. Sitting around a campfire a few years ago after we found this hidden gem of a campground, we decided to combine portions of each of our cities to form the name of our "city" - ST. Clair Shores (Maes'), CLAWson (Partin's, Nelson's and Maliszewski's), FernDALE (Chryslers) and Hazel PARK (Evangelista's). And so...St. Clawdale Park was born. Some might say...we had a little too much sunshine the day we figured that one out, but we like it! So much that a couple of years ago, Sally, Randy and I made a sign. :) Oh the time we had before children ;)L to R: Mike, Andre and Christa Maes, David and Sara Evangelista, Austin, Diane, Tyler and Matt Chrysler, Sally, Audrey and Mike Nelson, Randy, Remi & Krista Partin...and Buckshot Partin of course :)

So, as I was saying...Remi had her first trip to St. Clawdale Park. We arrived Friday afternoon and had a great long weekend, returning home on Monday, Labor Day. The drive south on I-75 after a long weekend is always fun with the thousands of other Detroiters, but it was well worth it. We enjoyed our weekend, but all good things must come to an end.

We hope everyone had a great Labor Day as well. Summer is over, but Fall in Michigan is the best time of year, so I plan to post a lot more camping pics in the coming months. Stay tuned!!!

4 Months Old

Remi Roo is 4 months old and I can't believe how much she's changed...especially over the past few weeks. We've witnessed many milestones and have captured a ton of video this past month! She's growing like a weed, weighing in at 15 lbs. 8.5 oz and she's now 25.5 inches long!! She's going to be a tall one, just like her mommy!

Here are the latest stats on Miss Remi...
*Sleeping 8 p.m. - 8 a.m., with a 4 a.m. snack most nights. She has slept for 12 hours a few times, but not enough to get too excited.
*Naptime is getting easier! She is soooo over me rocking her to sleep, most of the time she goes down crying but after a few minutes is off to dreamland...for 40 minutes. Not too long, but I'll take what I can get.
*Sad to announce Remi now has tears. I dreaded the day they would arrive and it breaks my heart each time I see them :(
*She's attempting to roll over, but can't quite understand how to get her left arm out from underneath her!

Here's a pic of Remi enjoying a little tummy time!
*Talking a TON, especially if you'll talk back.
*Laughs a lot and is ticklish in spots too!

*The jumparoo is a great treat for her, and it gives me time...maybe 15-20 minutes at a time...to job search.
*Grabbing objects and holding them for longer periods of time
*Eating cereal each night before bathtime in her highchair!! She wasn't sure at first, but after adding a little applesauce to the mix, she's starting to get a hang of things!

Still no change on the job front. I'm really enjoying this time home with my sweet Remi Caroline. We have so much fun every day walking, shopping or just laughing with each other! I need a job, but am honestly scared of how I will react when the day comes that I have to return to work :( Please continue to pray for us.
