Happy Birthday, Remi Caroline!

We are happy to announce the arrival of our sweet Remi Caroline. We may be a little bias, but we think she's the most beautiful thing in the world! At only 38 hours old, she's completely stolen our hearts. We are adjusting to parenthood, but we know once we get home the true lessons will begin and we'll then start to settle in to our new "routine". To be honest, we are both scared to death that we now have this little bundle to be responsible for, but we also know that we can do it!

Remi's birth day story is one for the books...here's the detailed version for you!

We arrived to Troy Beaumont on Friday at 4 p.m. to be induced. When I was checked by the nurse, we found out that I was dilated to 1 cm. We were happy to hear this progress and just knew all was going to go well for us. So, they admitted me and got us settled into our labor/delivery room #4. Throughout the night, my doctor administered medication to soften my cervix and help start dilation. So, we sat around...ordered pizza and just relaxed, our last night as "Randy and Krista".

On Saturday a.m. I woke at 5 a.m. with lots of anxiety and anticipation for what the day was to bring. I got ready and at 6 a.m. they began a Pitocin drip to induce labor. I was quite impatient, asking the nurses to give me their opinion of my progress each and every time they came to our room to check in on me. At 11:15 a.m. my doctor came in and checked me - I was only dilated to 2 cm and my doc then decided to break my water to begin progressing my labor, and boy did it ever!!!

My contractions progressed at a crazy rate and this is when it started getting fun. Randy was a TROOPER...massaging my feet throughout my contractions that by 2 p.m. had me climbing the walls and I was in a tremendous amount of pain. When the nurses saw how painful my contractions were, they called in the doc to check my progression...I was still at 2 cm. so they inserted a monitor to check the actual intensity of the contractions. When my doc realized that my contractions were measuring the rate of a 8-10 cm dilation, she asked if I wanted an epidural...I said YES! so, I received the epidural. After 1-2 hours, the epidural had worn off and I was feeling the contractions again...oh so painful!!

At 5:10ish, my doc checked me again and still, 2 cm. She said that the baby's head was swollen from trying to push through my cervix and at that point turned to Randy and I and said that a c-section was the best option for us. I've never seen people move so quickly, within 5 minutes, my nurses and doctors were all prepped, ready, Randy was in scrubs and we were rolling into the OR. We were overwhelmed with emotion and we couldn't hold back our tears...we were scared...everything was moving so quickly. My mom and Randy's mom were both in the room at the time of the decision and were equally scared.

So, into the OR I went...Randy was waiting in the hallway for the word to enter the room and sit by y side during the c-section. With my epidural already, they administered the spinal meds through that port. After about 5-6 injections, I could still feel everything...especially the sharp objects about to be used to open me up! So, the doctor made the decision to put me completely under. They went and told Randy that he wouldn't be able to join me either...I was scared, he was scared, but my surgery had already began. The next thing I knew, I was waking up next to my husband and daughter, sitting together in recovery! I woke to a TON of pain in my abdomen, but was happy to see my family surrounding me! :)

So, that's the story. Due to the amount of medication and the amount of pain I had from the surgery, we were placed back in the L/D area of the hospital so I could be monitored for the next 24 hours. Remi was taken to the nursery for the night, as I was so groggy from surgery, I couldn't even stay awake to hold her.

We didn't sleep much the first night as we wondered about our baby girl all night long!! I was monitored every hour and each time the nurse would enter my room, I would wake up and ask her when I would see my baby! I was a mess!!! :)

So, that's our story for the long story, but if you know me at all you know I'm detailed. Remi is just precious and we can't wait for her to meet all of you! :) Randy is in LOVE, and so am I!! She's just precious. Here are some pics of the new and improved Partin family :)

Just the Two of Us

Today ends our last weekend as a "two" before we become a "three" and a full-fledged family :) It's been a long time coming and we can't believe the time is almost here!!!!

Here are the final prego shots, my friends! My belly is HUGE and I fight a lot of swellng daily, but I have a great support system coaching me to keep my feet up. Randy has been SUPER and today alone, I've had two foot massages ;)

My parents arrived late Friday night and are here with us awaiting Remi's arrival. I get calls A LOT "do we have a baby yet?" from so many people. It's very cool that so many are anxious to hear she's arrived safely and I can't wait to one day tell her how many people loved her before she was even born! :)

So, we're in the home stretch now - 6 days to go. The final countdown is on we will be parents by this time next week. My doctor will begin the induction process Friday if Remi hasn't arrived on her own by then. OH MY! If that's the way things play out, we'll be "checking in" to Troy Beaumont Hospital on Friday at 4 p.m.

As for our 97-lb. chocolate baby, Buck. He's enjoying all the attention he's receiving lately. We've been talking to him about Remi's arrival and we know it will be an adjustment, but we think he'll be pretty attached to his baby sister in no time :)

This is our last post until Remi arrives. Check back throughout the week, as Remi may make her debut sooner rather than later :) Please pray for us this week as we've got a lot ahead of us. We're very excited and can't wait for our life to truly begin!!

April 14, Come and Gone!

So, I had this theory my entire pregnancy. I was SURE I would deliver 11 days early! You see, my mom delivered all three of us 11 days early. Then, my sister delivered my neice 11 days early. So, I was certain I would follow suit since I'm a carbon copy of my mother. Well, today is 11 days out...and nada! I went to the doc today for my 38 wk appt and we've got nothin'! No progress.

I still have high BP and I've had some vision issues...seeing spots, so I'm now up to two non-stress tests per week. So, tomorrow I go for another...and if all is well there, I'll go for another on Friday to continuously check my rates.

Another step she's taking...we are also going in the morning for an ultrasound to measure the baby's size. If she's as large as they expected, we may discuss c-section.

So -- a few scenarious that could happen over the next 10 days:

- Remi comes on her own... :)
- If any non-stress test is bad, they will induce.
- If baby is HUGE, c-section will be discussed.
- If both non-stress tests are good, baby's not too terribly large, and I haven't delivered by Friday, April 24 - they will induce labor.

We'll just all have to wait and see. Stay tuned.

No more work for you!

I had my 37 week doctor's appointment today and a couple of things to report...

Tomorrow is my last day of work. The dr. pulled me out due to edema (swelling) and elevated BP. The baby's heartrate was a little high and my BP was high, so I will have a non-stress test on Friday. If the numbers are low, we're good. If not, they may induce. I pray that things change because I DO NOT want to be induced. Remi will come when she's ready, right!?!?

I'm not dialated at all, but am told that my exam today could get things moving! I have been having some mild cramping since yesterday. Maybe that's a sign. I guess only time will tell. I'm so ready to meet this little girl. Her dad and I are so very anxious!!!!! :) Not too much longer...

36 Weeks

Here we are - 24 days to go - and I'm loving my belly :) I feel great, too! It's a GREAT feeling and I can't wait to tell Remi all about it one day :)

Just a quick update. I went to the dr. yesterday and all is good. Believe it or not, my blood pressure was actually lower than usual. I thought after the week I had last week, it was bound to be up...but I think that I've began to relax and I'm starting to really get excited about the opportunity before us!!

The doc also checked and no progress with dilation, but hopefully that will change and next week I'll have more to share.

Baby Remi is still head down...YEAH! Her heartbeat was 134 :) All is good.

Stay tuned folks, this could be the home stretch...maybe!?!?! I think I ask Randy AT LEAST once a day, "what do you think she looks like?" Maybe, just maybe, we'll get to see her soon and I'll know for myself!
